Meet Michelle from Organised Life
What’s your blog about and why did you start blogging?
I blog at An Organised Life and my blog is all about home organisation, budgeting and meal planning.
Blogging kind of came organically out of a newsletter I had been writing. I’d had a Facebook page and newsletter for a while where I wrote about budgeting stuff, organisation and food ideas. I don’t really know why but one day I decided to take it online and turn it into a blog. I have actually never been a reader of blogs but it just seemed logical to have it all in one spot rather than only on social media and email.
What’s your big dream goal for your blog?
I would love to turn my blog into my career and be able to blog and pay the bills! I love the community I have through the blog and it is a thrill interacting with all the people that read my posts. I’d love to be able to keep it up long term as a real career.
What have been your biggest blogging challenges so far?
Many spring to mind, but the biggest is finding a balance at home. I blog around two very young boys, both under school age. Trying to find a balance between getting posts done, social media monitored, emails answered etc while still being there for the boys is hard and I’m still working out how to make it work.
Is there anything that you’re super proud of?
I’m really proud of the community I’ve built and the personal connection my readers feel to me. I often get personal replies from newsletters and I love interacting with them in our new Facebook group. Hearing that implementing things I have written about has made a difference in their life makes it super worthwhile.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to get more serious about working with brands on their blog?
Work out what it is that you have to offer. Who are your readers, why do they come to your blog? Once you know these things you can approach brands with more confidence in your role and how you can really help them.
