Today we meet Danielle from Keeping Up With The Holsbys – I hope you enjoy getting to know her and her story so far!
What’s your blog about and why did you start blogging?
I started my blog Keeping Up With The Holsbys after a chance discussion in the park with some dear friends. I mentioned that I was dying being ‘just’ a stay at home mum and I needed an outlet. I didn’t even really know what blogging was at that stage. A friend was doing a blog as a travel journal and that was my only real experience of it. I didn’t know what I wanted it to be, but I started writing and cooking and I became hooked!
What’s your big dream for your blog?
It’s morphed over the last few years but my ultimate goal is to use the blog as a showcase for all of my different facets and abilities and to create an income that supports my family whilst doing what I love.
What have been your biggest blogging challenges so far?
Cluelessness. I just wrote and published with no idea about the business of blogging, or direction. In a way it was beautiful because I didn’t know what I didn’t know, but now that I do it can be overwhelming trying to shape it to go where I want it to.
Is there anything that you’re super proud of?
I wrote and self published a family friendly recipe book called Cook Once Feed All. I had two small children at my feet in the kitchen and I created and shot an entire book. I think that’s something to be proud of.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to get more serious about working with brands on their blog?
Ask questions. If you don’t have a marketing background, it’s a jungle out there so learn from people that do know. People are generous with their knowledge if you jut ask the questions.
